Indian Premier League is a very famous cricket franchise in the world. The renowned mobile-making company Vivo sponsored the fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League in 2021. So the fourteenth season of the IPL came to be known as the Vivo IPL 2021. It was a fascinating tournament with eight mighty teams, namely Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore,  participating against each other in a cut-throat competition. As T20 is the most favored form of cricket nowadays, the expectation of the viewers was sky-high from the players. The tournament started with the usual pomp on April 9, 2021, but unfortunately, the matches were suspended indefinitely from May 4, 2021, after the rise in Covid-19 infection across the globe. Later, the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) decided to continue with the matches in the United Arab Emirates at the end of 2021. 

Despite schedule changes, the players kept their zeal intact from the beginning till the end of the tournament. Their dedicated performances made the tournament enjoyable for the spectators.   1. Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad was one of the most consistent players of the Vivo IPL 2021. He is a right-handed batsman from Maharashtra who always makes the most out of opportunities to score good runs. His IPL debut took place in the 2019 season when The Chennai Super Kings bought him at a base price of 20 lakh. In the 2021 edition of IPL, Ruturaj fascinated the cricketing world with his extraordinary performances. He played 16 matches in the fourteenth season of the IPL in 2021, securing 635 runs. Among these matches, his 101 not out stands as his best performance in that season. He is a very dependable opening batsman who can create the wind of a win for his team from the very beginning of a match. 

2. Faf Du Plessis

Faf Du Plessis is one of the best batsmen of the present generation. He has made his South African team proud with his steady performances as a professional cricketer capable of adjusting to all the formats of cricket. He is also the former captain of the South African national team. In the finals of the Vivo Indian Premier League 2021, he achieved the award of the Player of the Match by striking 86 runs out of 56 balls. He is a very composed and careful batsman who can lead the team in a balanced manner to win a match. Noticing his excellent qualities as a team leader, Virat Kohli announced the passing of the captaincy of Royal challengers Bangalore to Plessis for the IPL 2022. To fulfil the wish, he was bought by the team for a record price of seven crores. Till 2021 Plessis remained dedicated to his team of Chennai Super Kings, as this was the team where his debut took place in the Indian Premier League. 

3. KL Rahul

Kannaur Lokesh Rahul, is the energetic captain of the Lucknow Super Giants. 

His debut in the T20 international took place in 2016 against Zimbabwe. He is famous for being a right-handed opening batsman who also doubles as a wicketkeeper. In Vivo IPL 2021, Rahul kept his impact constant by achieving an enormous 626 runs from 13 matches. His highest score in the tournament was 98 runs. He made six half-centuries in the tournament, playing with an incredible strike rate of 138.30. This was the first year when he joined the Lucknow Super Giants. Rahul holds the rare credit of creating four centuries in Indian Premier League ever since his debut in 2013. After remaining with Punjab kings for four years as an opening batsman, he decided to change the team to try new adventures in life. He is a very focused batsman and wants to accomplish more as a cricketer in life. 

4. Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan is a famous Indian cricketer who bats with his left hand. Apart from being an opening batsman, he is also an occasional right-arm off-break bowler. His T20 international debut took place in 2011 against West Indies. In the Indian Premier League, he is the overall third topmost scorer of runs. He scored a huge 587 runs in the Vivo IPL 2021. He finished fourth in the Orange Cap list in the 2021 IPL tournament. Dhawan has to his credit the incredible record of being the first batsman in the Indian Premier League to score back-to-back countries on the same day. In 2021 IPl, he appeared in 16 matches and made the highest score of 92. His strike rate in the tournament stood at 124.62. He scored three half-centuries and hit 63 fours and 16 sixes in the overall tournament. 

5. Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell is an Australian right-handed batsman who also doubles as an off-break bowler. He is a very talented cricketer who creates pressure upon the rival team by hitting every ball with swagger and gusto. The 2021 Vivo IPL witnessed a storming Maxwell with  513 runs in 15 matches, at the strike rate of 144.10. His power shots are enough to change the course of the match. He was bought by the royal challengers Bangalore in 2021 IPL for a record price of 14.25 crores. He kept to his form to exhibit excellent performance in the tournament. 

The excitement of the matches lasted till the end of the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League. This was the first instance when the schedule was stretched for an extended period because of  Covid-19. All the teams, with their fabulous cricketers, made the viewers forget the underlying uncertainty in real life. The tournament ended with a picturesque final match where the Chennai Super Kings defeated The Kolkata Knight Riders to proclaim the title of the winner of the IPL for the fourth time.
